Recording your video

SocialStache intentionally does not record video in the browser. Your phone's camera app and a proper editing app produce far better results than a web page ever could — so the workflow is: we write, you shoot, then bring the file back.

Talking-head scripts

Use the copy icon on the script, then paste it into your recording app's teleprompter — most editing apps have one built in. Read while recording, no memorizing.

Off-camera plans

Copy the shot list and use it as your shooting guide. If there's a voiceover, record the narration over your footage in your editing app. The editing note and music suggestion are guidance for the edit.

Which app should I use?

Any editor you're comfortable with works — SocialStache doesn't favor one. If you want a starting point:

• Instagram Edits (free, iOS/Android) — built-in teleprompter, good for Reels-first workflows, exports clean vertical video.
• CapCut (free, iOS/Android/desktop) — the most popular all-rounder, especially if you post to TikTok; huge template and caption tooling.
• Your phone's camera + a simple editor (iMovie, Google Photos) — perfectly fine for single-clip posts with no overlays.

Whatever you use, export as MP4 (H.264) at 1080p — that plays nicely with every platform's limits.

Then upload

Bring the finished video back with Upload your video on the draft card (or the upload button in the Review Queue). It attaches to the post and the draft becomes ready to publish.
